Insight installs one Lithrone and two Enthrone kits in Karnataka
Komori’s India representative Insight has confirmed the installation of three Komori presses, one each at Codialbail Press in Mangalore, Bengaluru-based Usha Prints and Government of Karnataka’s department of printing, stationery and publishing.
“We have installed two Komori Enthrone 429 presses and a Lithrone GL 437 respectively at these three clients and they are already in production mode,” said George Mathew, associate director of Insight Communication.
“Though we were very new to using a four-colour machine, with the support of Insight service team we were able to get the machine running in a very short span of time,” said Rev Fr Ronald D’Souza of the 160-year-old Codialbail Press.
The Enthrone 429 is a 20×29-inch sheetfed printing press and is equipped with CIP4 and PCG software which controls the flow of printing inks.
“It’s been a great turn around in business for us. In Mangalore, it is mostly short-run jobs with very short makeready time. The Enthrone makes it easy for us to achieve the necessary turnaround times without compromising on quality and that too with low maintenance costs. We are able to do 30 to 40 jobs in a shift with job run between 2,000 to 5,000 copies,” added D’Souza.
Speaking about the installation of Komori Lithrone GL 437 at its Bengaluru unit, Ravishankar M, director of department of printing, stationery and publishing, Government of Karnataka said, “It’s only been weeks since the machine has been installed and we are looking forward to printing all of our multi-colour jobs like textbook cover printing, board jobs etc, on the new press.”
“We are happy that the press is full of eco-friendly features. Power consumption is much lesser than a 40-inch machine, and can take eight A4 (sic) which suits our job requirements and added to that has a saving of 20% in the plates cost. The changeovers are faster between different grammages of paper with semi-automatic plate changer and KHS – AI (productivity enhancement system),” he added.
A Komori-enthusiast, Srinivas H of Usha Prints, Bengaluru added his third Komori in the Enthrone 29 to his press floor.
“Komori has always been known for its short makereadies, which fascinated me to go for my first Enthrone. Considering our business is mostly B2B walk-in customers, we needed something to satisfy the need of doing many short-run jobs in a day. With the new Enthrone 29 we are able to achieve 35 to 40 jobs of about 1,000 to 5,000 impressions in a day,” said Srinivas.
The Komori Enthrone 429 has a double diameter impression and transfer cylinder and prints a sheet of 530×750 mm (single sided 520x736mm and double sided 510×740 mm). It comes in four- and five-colour with printing speed of 13,000 sheets an hour.
“The compactness of the machine and the PDM available on the console ensures makeready is in matter of seconds and wastage is also well-controlled. Add to that paper thickness presets without any manual settings make the job change over easier between lower grammage and the board jobs,” added Srinivas.
