25 July 2016-Mumbai-based Parksons Packaging has signed a deal with Komori for purchase of the company’s flagship press – GX 40 – seven-colour plus coater. The 18,000sph press will come with full options of colour management and colour inspection, which Parksons’ said, will raise the bar on productivity and high precision quality control inspection system inline.
This sign-up has come soon after Parksons’ KBA and Heidelberg deals at Drupa 2016.
The new Komori will be installed at Parksons’ Rudrapur plant.
Announcing the deal with PrintWeek India, Sangam Khanna, president and management director at Insight Communications & Print, said, “Komori is very happy with opening of a new leaf with Parksons Packaging. This is our second order from Parksons, and both Komori and Insight will put in that extra effort to support Parksons deliver the growing demands of its customers.”
Insight is the representative for Komori in India.
At Drupa, Komori’s theme revolved around ‘evolving’ from a specialist offset press manufacturer to a total solution provider. Komori also said, it is now eager to listen to customers.
Toshiyasu Kubotera, general manager for exports in Asiana, Ocienia and Latin America at Komori, said, “The Indian customers are really well informed and need more technical strengths of technology as we feel the packaging is there to stay and has a good growth prospects in India approx. 18% per annum and packaging companies need to address the ever growing and the high demand of the customers and keep investing in newer technologies.”
At Drupa, Komori had a good run with the Indian print industry, signing ten deals, one digital (Impremia IS29) and nine offset presses.
Komori’ director Masaru Tsukamoto also emphasised Komori’s high focus on the Indian market and said he hopes to start sending high skilled staff from Japan every alternate months for a better customer support. “Komori has the world’s best graphic centre with eight machines line up in Japan and we do have courses in printing to offer so far many of our customers have benefited from this in their productivity and quality in India and around the world. We welcome our customers to use these facilities to enhance their quality, productivity, skill levels.”
